Diagnostics & Prophylactics of Electrical Equipment and Insulation Systems

To ensure the reliable operation of energy and industry, we provide our customers with a wide range of highly professional diagnostics and early prevention of failures (prophylactics) of electrical equipment and electrical insulation systems of high-voltage rotary (motors, generators) and non-rotating machines (transformers), including electrical insulating liquids and gases.

Diagnostics and prophylactics services consist of a whole range of different examinations, which are mostly part of the accreditation of one's own laboratory through the CHIA. These tests are used as a common part of preventive diagnostic checks and also during various operating conditions of electrical machines, e.g. during commissioning, decommissioning, repair, etc. We also specialize in testing equipment in extreme operating conditions — accidents or emergency shutdowns, where we identify the causes of accidents.

In this respect, the E-01 ORGREZ laboratory has a dominant position in the market, both in terms of its range of tests, as well as its knowledge and experience. We are also the authors of a wide range of methodologies that are used for diagnostics and measurements.

Diagnosis of rotary machines (generators, motors):

  • measurement of insulation resistance, capacitance and loss factor, voltage dependence of insulation resistance
  • tests with supplied voltage (AC, DC, 0.1 Hz)
  • tests of intercircuit insulation of windings, indication of the threaded short circuit of the rotor winding, shock tests by atmospheric impulse
  • measurement of partial discharges (e.g. global method, indication of ozone in cooling air, ultrasonic emission test)
  • inspection of thermal imaging machines and other special tests

Diagnostics of non-rotating machines - transformers (power, instrumentation):

Electrical Measurements

  • measurement of insulation resistance, loss factor and capacitance, value C2/C50
  • measurement of resistance of windings, gears
  • determination of the character of the connection of the winding
  • measurement of magnetization currents, impedance briefly
  • control of changes in winding geometry using frequency response (FRA)
  • polarization spectrum analysis (RVM) and dielectric spectroscopy in the frequency domain (DFR)
  • measuring the switching times of the branch switch
  • Operational diagnostics of grommets
  • tests with supplied voltage (AC, DC, 0.1 Hz)

Diagnostics of non-rotating machines made from electro-insulating fluid

  • determination of gases dissolved in oil (DGA), including total gas content
  • determination of furan substances released from the decomposition of solid paper insulation into oil

Diagnostics of electrical insulating fluids

  • determination of the value of the penetrating voltage of liquid insulators at the network frequency
  • determination of water content in insulating oil
  • determination of the acidity number of mineral insulating oils
  • determination of mineral insulation oil density
  • determination of oil — water intersurface tension
  • determination of temperature dependence of loss factor, relative permittivity and internal resistivity at DC voltage
  • determination of slurries insoluble in n-heptane
  • Determination of the number and size of particles in insulating fluids by a counter
  • Determination of thermal-oxidative stability (TOS) of mineral insulating oils
  • carrying out laboratory regeneration
  • determination of the presence of corrosive sulfur (qualitatively and quantitatively as DBDS)
  • determination of the content of the inhibitor
  • Determination of the content of passivators in mineral oils by HPLC
  • determination of the content of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) in mineral oils by gas chromatography

Diagnosis of solid paper insulation:

  • determination of water content in solid insulation
  • determination of the value of PPS (average polymerization degree)

Diagnostics of other electrical equipment:

  • tests of valve lightning arresters and spark free surge arresters vn and vvn for surge arresters
  • measurement of switching on and off times, dynamic resistance and current path resistance
  • diagnostic noise measurements for rotary and non-rotating electrical machines
  • diagnostics of electroinsulating gas SF6
