By utilising the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) denitrification method, the CHP unit at the AVIA Praha facility, where ORGREZ implemented this technology, now releases significantly fewer nitrogen emissions (NOx), thereby complying with the strictest regulatory standards for the operation of the equipment.
SCR is a flue gas cleaning process in which an aqueous urea solution is mixed with the flue gases, and this mixture is passed through a reactor with a catalyst.
Flue gases, into which an aqueous ammonia solution is dosed in a controlled manner by the SCR system, are directed to the catalyst, where the final chemical reaction occurs. During catalytic reduction, molecular nitrogen (N2) and water vapour (H2O) are formed. These products are harmless and occur naturally in the Earth’s atmosphere.
